Utah lawmaker wants less training for eyelash techs

SALT LAKE CITY — Your eyelash technician went through two years of cosmetology school, but a Utah lawmaker says three months of training is enough.

State Sen. David Hinkins, R-Ferron, is running a bill that creates a licensing process specifically for Utah eyelash and eyebrow technicians.

“Right now, they do hair and all that sort of stuff [in cosmetology school],” Hinkins told Utah’s Morning News. “All they want to do is specialize in eyelashes and eyebrows.”

To receive a license as an eyelash or eyebrow technician, applicants would be required to attend 100 hours of school in their field.
