UCLA student-run business Lashes by Kristen uplifts with eyelash extensions

All eyes are on Kristen Gonzalez’s Lashes.

The first-year sociology student started her eyelash extension business, Lashes by Kristen, in October 2020. The brand has grown over the past few months after it was featured on UCLA’s social media platforms, she said. Mostly marketing through her Instagram, Gonzalez caters to UCLA students out of her dorm at Sproul Hall.

Women have been discussing their frustration with the expensive beauty treatments they feel expected to get after US-based TikTok content creator Devonneleigh went viral for discussing the high cost of maintaining expensive routines.

Devonneleigh stitched a Dear Media podcast where the host talked about why women need a manicure and pedicure every two weeks and explained why she thinks it’s overkill.

Burnley woman’s warning after eyelash extension horror

Madeline Edwards, 24, was left with a swollen and painful eye after going to get her eyelashes done before a gig.

Madeline, who has been getting eyelash extensions for around six years, said: “Many salons required a 24-hour patch test and wouldn’t do my eyelashes, even if I signed a disclaimer.

“I took to Facebook and asked if any eyelash technicians had any last-minute availability and one woman messaged me saying she did. She didn’t even ask about a patch test.

Orchard Road salon cuts off woman’s real lashes when correcting botched eyelash procedure – Mothership.SG

A salon customer was left shocked after an Orchard Road salon cut off her lashes while correcting a botched eyelash extension procedure.

The customer, F, told Mothership that she visited the salon for the first time on Sep. 16.

She went there to get eyelash extensions.

F has been getting eyelash extensions for years, so she is no stranger to the procedure.

She brought a reference photo to show the salon’s lash technician what she wanted: A “D” curl.
