How Selena Gomez’s Mental Health Journey Inspired Rare Beauty’s Vision

Selena Gomez is ready to show the world Rare Beauty.

But the 28-year-old star wants to make it clear that his latest venture is far from a cash grab.

“I’m excited that this is finally coming out. The whole reason why I wanted to create Rare was to kind of challenge the beauty space,” Selena said during a virtual press conference with E! News and other reporters.

“I didn’t want to be just a celebrity attaching her name to something, because that’s definitely not my style. I would feel very disingenuous,” she added.

Fake makeup can be an easy buy – and a health hazard

This piece originally aired Dec. 6, 2017.

There’s a warning about the dangers of using counterfeit makeup and other knockoff products like toothpaste and cologne. One of their top priorities is spotting fake toiletries that can be dangerous to your health.

“We have to educate people a little bit on the concept of finishing dishes with oils, more than cooking with oils, which is something that is so common in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean diets,” Dana Elemara, the founding director of Arganic, told Arab News.
She said the UK market was a prime example, particularly with regards to beauty, but was moving in the right direction.

Why ‘beauty sleep’ is real, according to doctors

“Are you okay? You look tired.”

I can’t come close to counting how many times someone has said this to me, and no matter the empathetic tone in their voice, it’s never a compliment. Basically, they’re saying I look like crap — specifically my face. My eyes are puffy and red with dark half-moons below. My skin is blotchy and my coloring is wavy.

On these occasions, you could say I didn’t get my “beauty sleep,” (a term that, according to Dictionary.com, is defined as “sleep before midnight, assumed to be necessary for one’s beauty” and “any extra sleep ”);

Pretty hurts: are chemicals in beauty products making us ill? | US news

ANyone who has ever looked at a lotion or shampoo bottle has probably noticed a mystifying array of multi-syllabic chemicals. We assume they’re safe enough to put on our bodies – but how much do we really know about the products we slather on each day?

The US cosmetics and personal care industry – everything from makeup to shampoo, lotion and sunscreen – is largely self-regulated. Since it first came under FDA review in the 1930s, the industry has had only nine chemicals banned from use. More than 12,000 chemicals are approved for use today.
